Any advance on 60?
Marie Hudson, Crosby Writers' Club, writes to tell us that
they can go ‘one better than Hastings’, who
claimed to be one of the longest-running writers’
groups in the country (here).
Earlier this year Crosby celebrated their 60th birthday
with a lunch for members and some ex-members including 93-year
old Margaret Wynne. Margaret was an (almost) founder member,
joining the club on the first birthday in a room over the
local pub.
‘Over the years we have seen many people joining the
club, knowing little about writing, and then going on to
get published,’ says Marie, who has been a member
since 1974. ‘Four of our members have been very successful
novelists while many more have had articles and short stories
published. Also over the years members have contributed
material to our local Radio Merseyside.’
