Llanfair Caereinion Writers' Group
The Llanfair Caereinion Writers’ Group have published their first anthology, Branching Out, and report that it was a ‘mostly enjoyable’ experience.

The group’s members come from all walks of life and have a considerable age range from teens to a lady in her eighties. It is self-supporting and the encouragement of the members drives the group to improve their writing skills. Branching Out was a natural progression and contains a mix of stories, poetry and prose, most of which have come from the regular meetings.

‘It was a steep learning curve for us,’ said member Christine Williams. ‘We held a coffee morning to raise the money to produce the anthology and had to make decisions about what to include, how to present the pieces and which printer to use. It has given us an insight into the difficulties of producing printed books.’

The group asked local author, Mary Oldham, to launch the anthology which has sold well with twenty percent of the cover price going to The Emergency Disaster Committee.

Copies of the book are available at £4.99 plus 80p p&p from Christine Williams, Maes-Y-Nant, Llanfair Caereinion, Welshpool, Powys SY21 0EE; e-mail: maesynant@aol.com
