Digging up Donald the debut novel by subscriber, Steven Pirie, published in 2004 has been re-launched by Immanion Press in a paperback edition, with new artwork by Vincent Chong.

Steven first learned of Immanion Press (website: www.immanion-press.com) from an article in Writers’ News about the newly formed company looking for writers and approached them to publish his humorous dark fantasy tale, which explores just how far ‘ordinary’ family life can be pushed into the extraordinary worlds of the fantasy genre.

‘I’ve been writing for about fifteen years, self-teaching myself the craft and having great fun as I continue to do so,’ says Steven, who lives in Liverpool with his wife and young son.

As well as his book he has had short stories in print and on the web Nemonymous and Zencore, the Mammoth Book of Comic Fantasy (which was also translated into Russian), Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, The Horror Express, and others.

‘I love to write dark fantasy, particularly with humour, though I have been known to pen a “serious” tale or two,’ he says.

Steven is around 70,000 words into a second book in the Donald world, working title Burying Brian.

Immanion Press have expressed an interest in looking at that, too.
