Linda’s
web success
Linda Webbern has been writing ‘seemingly
forever’ and her first article published when she
was just 18. She has a degree in children’s illustrations
and made the cover artwork for two teenage novels. She also
wrote and illustrated a non-fiction book on knitting, Easy
Picture Knits, which sold 10,000 copies and can still crops
up on eBay from time to time. Her most recent success was
with a children’s book on YouWriteOn.com.
‘I joined YouWriteOn.com at the end of August 2007
after reading about the site in Writers’ News. I uploaded
the opening chapters of my completed novel Money Money Money
which was voted one of the top five on the site at the end
of September and won a professional critique by Gillian
Stern.’
Linda was thrilled with her success and took Gillian’s
advice on board. To add to the achievement Money, Money,
Money also made the long list for the site’s Book
Awards and was one of five runners up for the prize. Extracts
from the book can be read on the site.
Linda highly recommends YouWriteOn and is full of praise
for its service to writers. ‘I’d just like to
say what a brilliant site [YouWriteOn] is and Ted [founder
Edward Smith] deserves a lot of praise for all his hard
work. Of course there is also a thank you for Writers’
News for introducing me to it.’
She has now given up work as a Training Co-ordinator to
concentrate on her writing and illustrating and is currently
working on a teen novel Dead Men and Red Tomatoes as well
as a commission for a children’s song book. On top
of this she has a website of her own in the works and is
full of optimism for her passion.
‘If you’re passionate about writing, never give
up. Dreams do come true.’ |
