The latest anthology in
the Sexy Shorts... series, published in aid of charities by
independent Accent Press, Pembrokeshire, marks quite a success
for Writers’ News, with a roll call of subscribers
making the list of contributing authors.
Tracy Hartshorn, Chesterfield, was first to let us know her
story would be appearing. Writing as Sally Quilford, Tracy
previously appeared in the British Heart Foundation fundraiser
Sexy Shorts for Lovers with her ‘rom-com’
The Association of Bit Part Players.
She suggested a Members’ News piece about the publication
of her wartime love story The Fox in Sexy Shorts
for the Beach, due for publication in June, which will
benefit Cancer Research UK.
‘I'm delighted to be part of Sexy Shorts again, especially
as it's for such a good cause,’ said Tracy. ‘I'm
honoured to be appearing alongside well-known contributors,
including Writing Magazine regular Jane Wenham-Jones.
‘What makes this even better for me is that three other
members of my online writing group, Dawn Wingfield, Elaine
Everest and Rosemarie Rose, all WN subscribers, are
also appearing in the anthology, turning it into a real family
affair for us.’ |

But after speaking to Writers’
News, Tracy contacted other Sexy Shorts writers, many
of whom revealed that they too were subscribers, including
Jane Bidder, who writes as Sophie King, Jill Stitson, Jill
Steeples, Dawn Hudd, Kelly Rose Bradford, Linda Mitchelmore,
Sue Houghton, Jan Jones, Jan Wright and Ruth Joseph, along
with Della Galton and Dee Williams, both of whom have previously
contributed to Writing Magazine.
Accent Press founder Hazel Cushion told Writers’
News the anthology had been submitted for consideration
to be part of the Richard & Judy Show’s
Summer Reads initiative. ‘The remit said that Summer
Reads would be focusing on breakthrough authors this time,
so I though Sexy Shorts for the Beach would be ideal,’
she said. ‘That’s the great thing about the Sexy
Shorts books, that they are such an opening for new writers.’
Sexy Shorts for the Beach is out in June. Other anthologies
are planned.
