Simon ‘bluffs’ his way to publication

A WN subscriber from the start, Simon Whaley is not bluffing when he says that his eighth book has just been published and his ninth will appear any day soon. Both books are for the bestselling humorous Bluffer’s Guides series, which contain facts, jargon and inside information, giving readers instant expertise. The first book was not plain sailing as Simon explains. ‘The Bluffer’s Guide to Banking is a co-authored book with Robert Cooper who is based in Ireland. It was all set to be published in spring 2008 and then the little matter of the credit crunch and the collapse of the banking system happened. Suddenly, the text was out of date over night! For the past six months we’ve been busy rewriting, and then rewriting again.’

Simon’s ninth book is due to be published imminently. The Bluffer’s Guide to Hiking takes a humorous look at the world of walking and was not as frenetic to write as The Bluffer’s Guide to Banking. A keen walker himself, Simon regularly provides route descriptions for Country Walking and Country & Border Life magazines, and is also the author of Best Walks in the Welsh Borders.
