Jeremy Walton has had a recent success in the US with his article
Noggins & The Art of BMW Maintenance which won an ‘honorable
mention’ in the US Writers’ Digest’s Annual
Writing Competition. This is a great achievement in a competition
with over 19,000 entries.
The piece fell under the Feature Article category of the competition
and dealt with a familiar subject for motoring writer Jeremy.
In total he has had 32 non-fiction books published including BMW
3-series: 1975-1992 - A Collector’s Guide, Mini Cooper and
S:997 & 998 Cooper; 970,1071 & 12755 and two biographies,
one of which was recently re-released upon the death of the subject,
motor racing legend Gerry Marshall.
Jeremy also writes a monthly column, The English Patient, for
the automotive magazine Roundel.
Next in line is an Audi Quattro book due to be published by the
Haynes Group as part of their Great Cars series. Meanwhile he
is trying to make the difficult transition to fiction and has
written a screenplay set in Israel. At Frome Festival he met a
literary agent who gave him an in-depth constructive critique.
She’ll be hearing from him again soon when the manuscript
does the rounds in early 2008.
As he works on these future projects, this ‘honorable mention’
serves as recognition for Jeremy’s writing so far; much
of which found success in the US.
‘I’ve been contributing to American magazines and
writing automotive books for American publishers since 1996,’
says Jeremy. ‘I am naturally happy to get any recognition
in this important market, a region whose grasp of spelling is
as hazy as mine.’
