Camp fire tales

Those members who love reading books as much as writing them may care to share their favourites with other avid readers.

Longtime Scottish member, Maggie Craig, author of six novels, writes to tell us of a new venture she is involved in, Round the Camp Fire, (www.roundthecampfire.co.uk) a website set up ‘by book lovers for book lovers’.

The site seeks recommendations of good reads across the spectrum: fiction, non-fiction, adult or children’s books, exciting new titles or old favourites.

The aim is to collect as many enthusiastic book reviews as possible. All reviews are of books the reviewer really enjoyed and are more recommendation than review,’ Maggie says.

Four books, which are changed regularly, are featured on the front page and the rest of the reviews are in the archive, which can be found through the links on the left hand side of the page sorted into fiction and non-fiction and indexed by both author name and book title.

Recommendations should be between 200-500 words and designed to persuade someone else to read the book.

E-mail to: submissions@roundthecampfire.co.uk and include the reviewer’s name and any reading connection, for example aspiring writer, teacher, bookseller, reading group member.
