Publishing double

We last featured author Jay Mandal, who has written over 100 short stories, in Writers’ News May 2003.

Since then he has published a new book Precipice with BeWrite Books (£8.99, www.bewrite.net) and his collection of short stories Slubberdegullion is just out, with the same publisher, Be Write Books.

‘There was a last minute panic when I realised I had given characters from different stories the same first name,’ says Jay, ‘but it was soon resolved, avoiding confusion for readers.’

Jay has been described as a writer of ‘considerable wit and emotional honesty’ now Precipice offers his characteristic blend of humour and pathos.

‘My previous novel The Dandelion Clock has topped one of Amazon’s UK bestsellers lists while the two short story collections The Loss of Innocence and Kaleidoscope have regularly been in the top twenties on Amazon UK and Amazon.com,’ says Jay.

He adds, ‘Sir Ian McKellen, Hanif Kureishi, Fay Weldon and Beryl Bainbridge have all read and enjoyed my work.’
